We enclose for your information the texts of articles taken from the Canton daily press of January 9th, 11th and 13th. These will give you a good idea of how public opinion in Canton was inflamed by press agitation over the Kowloon question, immediately before the outrage of January 16th.

We also enclose for your information copies of telegrams sent to London by the Times correspondent in Hong Kong on the subject of the Canton outrage.

Yours ever,

CHANCERY.

China Department.

Foreign office,

LONDON S.W.1.
